Accessibility statement for mmu.ac.uk/riseÂ
Our platform has been designed and organised to make it as simple, intuitive and accessible as possible for users.Â
Accessibility statementÂ
This statement applies to content published on the Rise experiential learning platform.  It does not apply to the various other websites associated either with mmu.ac.uk or Manchester Metropolitan University.Â
The platform is hosted by Moodle and run by Manchester Metropolitan University.  We want everything we do to be accessible and we’re building our website so that it can be used by as many people as possible.Â
The platform is designed so that:Â
we meet the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standardÂ
you can use it on as many devices as possible and you have the same experience on each deviceÂ
text is clear, simple and as easy to read as possibleÂ
you can navigate the website with different input devices (mouse, touch screen, keyboard, speech recognition software)Â
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you are disabled.Â
How accessible is our website?Â
Our platform is designed to be accessible; however we know that there are occasions where individual elements are not fully accessible. We maintain an active programme of development, which includes addressing accessibility issues as they are found.Â
We know there are some issues which need addressing.  These include:Â
Ensuring all relevant content has alternative textÂ
Ensuring all element IDs are uniqueÂ
Additionally, we know:Â
most older PDFs are not fully accessibleÂ
videos may not be fully captioned.Â
some very old content (less than 1%) does not wrap text on smaller devices.Â
our platform has a large number of contributors.  When content is published, we sometimes need to fix small issues affecting individual pages. If you notice accessibility issues contact rise@mmu.ac.uk with a link to the affected page.Â

What we’re doing to improve accessibilityÂ
Rise was migrated to a new platform April 2026. Accessibility was a key requirement of this work.Â
All new PDFs, images and videos meet accessibility requirements, and we continue our programme of remediation for legacy content.Â
We monitor the accessibility of Rise through clear guidelines, tools and governance to ensure we continue to maintain and improve the accessibility of our platform.Â
Additionally, we continue to work with content contributors to help ensure all content is accessible.Â
Preparation of this accessibility statementÂ
This statement was prepared on 8 April 2026. Â
The platform has been assessed by the Equality Impact Assessment Working Group.Â
The University scans all pages to ensure that the framework for delivering an accessible platform remains effective and that all content contributors are supported to deliver accessible content.Â
